OUR ACADEMY

Located in Galveston, TX, our academy is one of many Rilion Gracie Jiu-Jitsu branches found across the world. All of our instructors are highly trained in both sport Jiu Jitsu and self defense techniques, and want to spread their knowledge to you. Since being founded by Carlos Gracie Sr. in the 1920’s, Jiu Jitsu has proven many times over to be the most effective martial art in the world.

​MASTER RILION GRACIE

Rilion Gracie, son of Carlos Gracie Sr., grew up around BJJ, and has shaped his life and philosophy based on the lessons he has learned on the mat. He passes this knowledge on to his instructors and students, allowing them to spread the benefits of Jiu Jitsu to as many people as possible.

These benefits range from self-confidence, patience, mental strength, and physical fitness, and are the foundations of our teaching practices at Rilion Gracie Galveston.​

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was designed to allow the underdog in a fight to utilize leverage and technique, rather than strength, to overcome an opponent while keeping themselves safe. It truly is a sport for everybody. Many people say though, that while learning self defense is clearly important, the other benefits of Jiu Jitsu are much more important. Lessons learned on the mat of patience, focus, and discipline, carry over in to your everyday life. You’ll start to notice small things don’t bother you as much as they did and projects at work are easier to finish than before.
